All Media is Social

You just have to invite them in.

Social Media doesn’t have to live just online. Typical one-way communication media can be turned into consumer engagement through conversation.

Some examples that pop to the top of my skull:

  • Consumers can text to add to or change the message on a digital billboard–Let them be part of your communications.
  • Let consumers participate & collaborate with your campaign with their camera phone pics/vids

So, while online media is awesome (especially since you’re reading one now) keep in mind those social interactions don’t have to stay online. I’d say being able to translate your online experience into offline action and connections is the true power of social media.

Bottom line: keep thinking about how you can invite your consumers into your world, they might just like it there.
